Yeah, that's the main reason why generational monsters have the advantage over rares. (And normal first-gen monsters) Sure, you can use DP's method or Bananas to max out your first gen rare. But then you have two attacks. You have to either blow some lifespan on those, and still not have enough attacks to compete well in an average tourney, or spend even MORE time on Bananas etc. to make up the difference.

Generational monsters can inherit several dozen weeks' worth of errantry that can be spent on training, instead.
