Ah, but there are still two factors to consider:

1) Reaching S class with several generations can be simple, but it takes time.
2) Some people need higher stats to beat the tourneys than others, depending on their skills.

My first Garlant, Dragun, made S class and beat the first of the Big Four, but only barely, by the skin of his teeth. And I consider myself a skilled fighter and used Nageel besides. Galahad, who is a generational monster, is much more powerful and is taking the class easier. I suspect he's going to be the one to finish the game for me, if I ever do finish.

As I said at the beginning, this isn't a game you can just jump into or waste a couple of hours with, it demands commitment. That commitment is rewarded, but slowly.
